MOMENTUM Residency

Professional Development for Early Career Clinicians

The MOMENTUM Residency is a year-long professional development program for early-career social workers and professional counselors working in DC public and public charter schools. Through specialized training, reflective clinical supervision, mentorship, and a supportive cohort, residents build the skills and confidence to deliver high-quality, culturally responsive care in school settings.

MOMENTUM also fosters connection, belonging, and lasting professional growth. By learning alongside peers and experts in clinical care, restorative practices, equity, and advocacy, residents strengthen their professional networks and commitment to the communities they serve. This supportive model promotes retention and prepares clinicians to become effective school mental health leaders.

The MOMENTUM Residency

  • Community Collaboration and Experiential Training— Engage with leaders across education, mental health, public, health, policy, and community organizations to gain an understanding of the systems that shape student well-being.
  • Employment-Based Professional Development Combine full-time school-based practice with structured training designed to accelerate professional growth and prepare clinicians for long-term success.
  • Equity-Driven, Culturally Responsive Care — Develop the knowledge and skills necessary to deliver high-quality mental health services that respond to the needs and strengths of diverse communities.
  • Advanced Clinical Supervision & Licensure Support — Receive high touch individual and group supervision, mentorship, and reflective opportunities to accrue clinical hours toward professional licensure.
