- If you have difficulty managing your medications
- If you need help with financial or other life challenges
What type of health insurance does Mary's Center take?
At Mary’s Center, your health is our priority. Understanding your health insurance options can be tough, and we are here to help. We accept most insurance plans, including Medicaid and Medicare, but are deeply committed to providing you with healthcare regardless of your ability to pay.
Before making an appointment, look into your insurance coverage to avoid paying unnecessary fees. Check the insurance plans we accept.
What if I don't have insurance?
Mary’s Center uses a sliding fee scale to determine how much an uninsured participant will pay based only on income and family size. We encourage all patients without private insurance to apply for Medicaid, DC Healthcare Alliance (health insurance plan for DC residents who DO NOT qualify for Medicaid), and other local county programs in Maryland. Payments and visit costs are adjusted based on the ability to pay and can be found in Mary’s Center’s sliding fee scale (sistema escalonado de tarifas).
How do I apply for health insurance?
To apply for health insurance, call (844) 796-2797 for an appointment with an insurance representative who will help you with the application form. Mary’s Center’s certified staff will help determine your eligibility for Health Insurance under the Affordable Care Act (ACA). If eligible, we can help you sign up for the most appropriate health plan during the special enrollment periods in Maryland and DC.
To apply for Medicaid, call (844) 796-2797 to make an appointment with one of our Public Benefits Specialists, who will help you fill out the form. You must bring proof of address (e.g., a utility or phone bill), proof of income, and a photo ID.

What are my insurance options as a noncitizen?
Thanks to the Healthy Babies Equity Act, effective July 1, 2023, noncitizen pregnant individuals in Maryland of any immigration status will now have access to Medicaid coverage. The benefit will provide coverage during pregnancy and four months after birth. To learn if you are eligible, visit Maryland Health Connection.
There are a few more health programs for non-citizens, depending on the state/district you live in.
Can I come to one of your D.C. sites if I live in Maryland?
We prefer that you visit one of the sites in the state/district in which you live. That will make it easier for us to help you with the resources available to you as a resident of that state/district.
