Volunteer at Mary's Center

Volunteering with Mary's Center is a great way to give back and to support a vital and often underserved population. We offer an array of opportunities that are fitting for students, working professionals, and retirees alike.  Whether you are looking for a one-time event or a full-time commitment, you can help Mary's Center grow. We offer volunteer positions throughout Maryland and DC, at all of our clinic locations. Requirements vary depending on the department you are interested in working with. Taste of Adam's Morgan

Details: Join us at our most upbeat, fun and food filled fundraiser and help us make the 7th Taste of Adams Morgan the best yet! Volunteers will receive 2 tastes to enjoy some of the fun. We hope to see you there!

Type: Special Event

Where:  2355 Ontario Rd. NW DC 20009 (various walking distance locations)

Program: Senior Peer Support Program

When: Weekly, determined by volunteer’s schedule

*Volunteer training late March, home-visiting to begin first week in April

Where: Home-visits throughout D.C.

Type:Recurring

Details: The Senior Peer Support Program(SPSP) is a volunteer peer home visiting program being piloted through Mary’s Center in partnership with The D.C. Department On Aging. The goal is to improve emotional well-being of older adults experiencing loneliness through social connection.  Volunteers will provide weekly 1-hour home visits to an assigned peer for 8 weeks. Volunteers will be trained on how to give personalized, undivided attention and support to make their peer feel seen and understood.

Skills/requirements: 

Age 60+, responsible, compassionate, good listener, embraces diversity 

Willing/able to make weekly home visits for 8 weeks

Mandatory TB test and background check

Mandatory 8-hour volunteer training                                                                   

Minimum 3-month commitment                                                                                                                         

*All costs including volunteer transportation will be covered by Mary’s Center

Where: Health, informational fairs throughtout DC and MD

Details: Represent Mary's Center, answer questions about our services, help staff member with setup/breakdown
