September 28, 2022 – Mary’s Center is grateful to be receiving a significant contribution from an anonymous donor in recognition of the organization’s Senior Early Childhood Manager, Dr. Georgette Saad. To encourage similar gifts in honor of Mary’s Center staff, the generous donor is sponsoring a challenge match and will triple the first $5,000 raised in gifts donated towards the campaign. This triple recognition spotlights private, public, nonprofit, and government agencies that received the highest employee ratings from a survey contracted by the newspaper. Read more.
June 8, 2022 – Today, Mary’s Center announced they have received a $50,000 grant from the Maximus Foundation to support critical efforts to meet the needs of under-resourced community members. The Maximus Foundation selected Mary’s Center as their first-ever Pinnacle Grantee because of the organization’s dedication to promoting self-sufficiency and personal growth through health care and family development services. April 26, 2022 – The Delta Dental Community Care Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Delta Dental of California, today announced it is launching a multi-year program to fund community-based coalitions to address the oral health care crisis among older adults in the U.S. A recent report by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) cited adults aged 65 years and older as the most critically underserved and vulnerable population for oral health care in America. In collaboration with its first two coalition partners, Howard University College of Dentistry and Mary’s Center – a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), the Foundation’s program is intended to promote the connection between oral health and overall health, provide quality outcomes, improve access and create greater equity in the care and treatment older adults receive. April 4, 2022 – Today, Mary’s Center announced its “LGBTQ+ Healthcare Equality Top Performer” designation in the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation’s 15th-anniversary edition of the Healthcare Equality Index (HEI). The HEI is the nation’s foremost benchmarking survey of healthcare facilities on policies and practices dedicated to the equitable treatment and inclusion of LGBTQ+ patients, visitors, and employees. A record 906 healthcare facilities actively participated in the 2022 HEI survey and 251 of those earned an “LGBTQ+ Healthcare Equality Top Performer” designation. Read more.
January 31, 2022 – Today, Mary’s Center announced support from Pepco to advance the Teen Program in the DC area and funding to provide energy assistance to help residents with their gas and electric bills. The grant to support the Teen Program will allow Mary’s Center to expose participants to new career opportunities in renewable energy. The other support will enable Mary’s Center to expand its Energy Assistance Program for Prince George’s County residents. Read more.
