Shelby Hettenbach is a school-based mental health therapist at Mary’s Center. Her focus is on LGBTQIA+ affirming and trauma-informed care for children and youth. She holds a master’s degree in social work from the University of Maryland and a bachelor’s degree in Linguistics and Psychology from University at Albany. Shelby has worked to support victims of gender-based violence throughout her career in various roles. She also has experience supporting children and adolescents diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder as an ABA Therapist. She is interested in human-centered therapeutic practices that honor strengths and autonomy and utilizing mindfulness to enhance wellbeing. Shelby utilizes both EMDR and Internal Family Systems therapies in her practice. Shelby believes that strong communities lead to more positive mental health outcomes and enjoys spending her free time volunteering and participating in her community.
