Pele is a native to DMV area, joining the Mary’s Center team in 2020. During her studies she conducted research on nursing and the arts as well as how nurses “care” in the prison system. She has been a Camp Nurse and served in the Peace Corps as a Community Health Facilitator in Peru, working with a school and health post to reduce anemia and teen pregnancy in the community while mobilizing community health worker trainings. Her nursing interests are in adolescent and women’s health at the crossroads of social justice and public health. She is passionate about health education, partnering with patients to improve holistic health goals, and working on an interdisciplinary team where nursing voices are valued. She enjoys working for Mary’s Center because of the cross-disciplinary collaboration the team prioritizes for our patients- whether a patient needs nutritional, social, behavioral, or another type of support, Mary’s Center has it under one roof! In her free time she enjoys hiking, creating recipes, and discovering new ice cream shops.
