After graduation Ms. Day worked in hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, college health centers, and schools in New York City and Chicago. She has also enjoyed traveling to Guatemala, Haiti, and Puerto Rico for short-term volunteer work. Before coming to Mary’s Center in 2001, Ms. Day was employed for 32 years as a Public Health Nurse for DC government. Except for 1 year as a school nurse at Briya, her time at Mary’s Center has been spent in home visiting programs, visiting families in their homes. She currently follows pregnant women and their babies during pregnancy, and the postpartum period, doing teaching and assisting with appointments and other needs. She also assists with the Children’s Hospital Pediatric Residency Program by taking residents on home visits and teaching them about the community. During her spare time, Ms. Day enjoys cooking, traveling, folk dancing, and playing in an accordion orchestra.
