Jonathan Blum served as the Executive Vice President, Medical Affairs at CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield. He led a division of 550 clinical and analytic staff who coordinated medical benefits for all of CareFirst’s business lines that served more than 3.1 million members. In addition, he managed CareFirst’s care coordination programs and the nationally-recognized Patient-Centered Medical Home program. Prior to that, he served as the Principal Deputy Administrator of the Centers for Medicare And Medicaid Services (CMS), directing CMS policy centers and offices to develop and implement strategies to improve payment and the delivery of care throughout the US. Jonathan has also worked for Avalere Health, the United States Senate (Committee on Finance) and the Executive Office Of The President (Office Of Management And Budget). He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master’s in Public Policy degree from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. Jonathan joined the Mary’s Center Board of Directors in December 2016.
