Program Evaluations

Mary’s Center’s programs and operations are evaluated on a regular basis by internal and external parties.

To read a 2010 evaluation of the Healthy Start Healthy Families (HSHF) program, which Mary’s Center administers with its partner, the Children’s National Medical Center, click here. This evaluation finds that HSHF is successful in promoting positive parenting, enhancing child health and well-being, and preventing child abuse and neglect. In some areas HSHF's positive outcomes exceeded those for the District of Columbia and for the nation. For instance, in year 14 of the program, 92 percent of HSHF children were immunized on schedule. That figure compares to 78 percent for children in D.C. and 76 percent for children nationally. For a summary of the program’s achievements relative to D.C. and national statistics, see table 19 on p. 66 of the report (p.70 of the PDF).

To read a 2010 quality assurance review of Mary’s Center’s Maryland site conducted by The Grant Group, LLC, for the Primary Care Coalition of Montgomery County, click here. This report was written for the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services. The half-day review of the administrative, financial, and clinical functions of Mary’s Center’s Silver Spring, Maryland, site also compared findings to those of the previous year’s review. The report’s recommendations support Mary’s Center’s quality improvement efforts.
