Mary's Center Runs on Volunteers

“I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.” – Mother Teresa

To our courageous and dedicated volunteers,

Thank you!

Mary’s Center staff and participants send our deepest gratitude to the hundreds of volunteers who give their time, talent and kindness to transform lives and create stronger communities. The impact of their tireless service is reflected in the lives of the thousands of families served by Mary’s Center.

Volunteers add a priceless value to Mary’s Center.  Whether they volunteer at our special events, with programs, in the clinics, or participate with corporate service days, their help and care allows us to fulfill our mission. Everyone who volunteers has a skill set, focus and dedication that is unlike anything else.

We’d like to recognize  some of our youngest and most committed volunteers, Andrew and Ryan Klinger. They have  volunteered from the moment they could walk and continue to be instrumental to our Thanksgiving food drive!

"I like to volunteer at Mary’s Center because it makes me feel good inside – helping children who don’t have what my brother and I have. Children should be able to see doctors when they are sick and should have books to read. Helping out at Thanksgiving is really fun: you get to sort food and put it in bags for people to pick up."  - Andrew

And our wonderful volunteers, Claire and Zoha shared why they volunteer with us:

"Volunteering at Mary's Center was a unique opportunity for me to advance my Spanish-speaking skills while simultaneously helping D.C. residents. I value all my interactions with the thoughtful Mary's Center community, whether that was office-work with the staff or coloring with children in the clinic waiting room.” - Claire

“From my first day at Mary's Center, everyone was warm and welcoming.  I instantly felt like I  found a second family. Over time,  I discovered  the Mary's Center team to be the  most dedicated, hardworking individuals  and their passion and enthusiasm for serving the community is  immediately evident.. After volunteering, I discovered donations were needed for their Thanksgiving Food Drive. There was no question  that I would organize a drive at my school. .,As a result, Mary’s Center provided  Thanksgiving meals to many DC families this year!” - Zoha

These are only a few of our amazing supporters sharing why they enjoy giving  their time to Mary's Center. As we celebrate our 30th Anniversary, we have no doubt that our volunteers have been instrumental to our success since our humble beginnings. Supporting our communities is a group effort and Mary's Center has been fortunate to have dedicated volunteers by our side!
