THE MARY'S CENTER TEEN PROGRAM AND THE TEEN SCHOLARSHIP FUND

The Teen Program provides programmatic and case management services to teenagers, ages 13-21, and uses a positive, youth-driven approach to address the various needs of our teen participants. Many programs are offered throughout the year; and during the summer teens can participate in a job training/experience and personal development programsuch as Urbanitos.
The Urbanito Scholarship Fund was created by teens during after their 2007 summer project where they analyzed the Washington, D.C. educational system and concluded that a significant barrier to their access to higher education was a lack of financial resources. This year 25 have applied to college. All were accepted to at least one university or community college. Our goal is to raise $25,000 to provide each with a $1,000 grant.

To receive a grant, the teens must be a high school or GED graduate, help with fundraising, and show proof of college or trade school attendance.

Deliverables:

- 25 teens, upon proof of attendance at a college, university, or trade school, will receive a $1,000 grant to be used toward tuition, room and board or the purchase of books.
- The Teen Program Alumni Association will be formed to provide ongoing support

Mary’s Center for Maternal and Child Care is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Your contribution is fully tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Budget Notes: The entire $25,000 will be used for scholarships and will be sent directly to the school upon proof of attendance
