Mary’s Center President and CEO, special guest
at State Dinner
Mary’s Center continues to strengthen its relationship with the White House. Our President and CEO, Maria Gomez, was invited by First Lady Michelle Obama to attend the State Dinner held in honor of the president of Mexico, Felipe Calderon, and his wife, Margarita Zavala, on May 19th.
Only three nonprofit organizations - Mary’s Center, Martha’s Table and Miriam’s Kitchen - were invited to attend this prestigious event, the second State Dinner of the new administration. The list of over 200 guests included Hollywood celebrities like Whoopi Goldberg, George Lopez and Eva Longoria, as well as key government officials and many other important personalities.
Also, on the morning of that same day, 10 Mary’s Center teens were invited by the White House to be part of the arrival ceremony for President Calderon and First Lady Zavala.
