Teens get work experience at Mary's Center

Thanks to the support of the DC Department of Employment Services (DOES) and the DC Office on Latino Affairs, Mary’s Center is providing employment opportunities to more than 100 adolescents this year through the Summer Youth Employment Program.

The young people will explore their career interests and earn some money working in departments such as Development, Communications, the Executive Office, Finance and Health Promotion.

Medical Assistant pioneers graduate

Fourteen students graduated from the inaugural 12-15 month Medical Assistant Program offered by Briya Public Charter School, our partners in education.

The students attended classes 4 nights a week from 6-9 pm since last Fall and graduated on June 23rd. Now several of them are working as medical assistants, including four here at Mary's Center. We are proud to have helped the students and their families to climb the economic ladder and wish them every success.

Briya is getting ready to launch its second Medical Assistant class.
