New Energy Assistance Program Launched for Prince George's County Residents

Mary’s Center was recently awarded $75,000 from the PHI Community Foundation (a separate entity of Pepco Holdings, Inc.) to launch an Energy Assistance Program for Prince George’s County, Maryland, residents. The Program will pay up to $500 of electric and/or gas bills of individuals and families experiencing financial hardship.

To be eligible for the Energy Assistance Program, individuals/families must:

  • reside in Prince George’s County
  • meet income requirements
  • be able to prove financial hardship

To be considered as a beneficiary of the Energy Assistance Program or refer someone you know: Email Monique Perry at mperry@maryscenter.org or call Emily Dreckshage at (202) 420-7001.

We're glad the Program is helping Prince George's County residents! We recently received this note from A.C.: "Words can not express my gratitude and humbleness for the gift the Mary's Center and people who donated this money. As a single mom of three (one who is special needs) and unemployed (laid off in November/Previous Employer could not afford to keep staff), I am trying so hard to meet my family needs. Having electricity is needed to sustain life, it allows my children to do their homework (who are honor students), keep the food cold in the refrigerator for meals, see how to put their clothes on in the morning for school, heating the house when the weather is averaging 32 degrees, etc.I am so happy."
