Mary's Center Runs on Volunteers

In honor of National Volunteer Week, April 10-17, Mary’s Center would like to recognize and thank over 500 volunteers who through their efforts and support help us transform lives and create stronger communities. The impact of your tireless service is daily seen in the lives of the thousands of families served by Mary’s Center. Thank you!

Volunteers add great value to nonprofit organizations, but especially to Mary’s Center. They help us improve services to our participants, increase contact with the greater community, and make their skills, expertise, and enthusiasm available to support our mission.

Our volunteers come in all ages with various abilities and skills. There is a task for almost anyone who wishes to help. 9-year-old Andrew Klinger spends every chance he gets giving back to the community. For many years, Andrew and his family have generously contributed their time towards our Thanksgiving Drive. However, Andrew’s work does not end there. Last year, this young volunteer kindly donated his first communion gift to our Thanksgiving Drive to make sure others also had the opportunity to enjoy a warm Thanksgiving meal. At such a young age, Andrew has truly become an inspiration for all of us.

“I like to volunteer at Mary’s Center because it makes me feel good inside – helping children who don’t have what my brother and I have.  Children should be able to see doctors when they are sick and they should be able to have books to read. And helping out at Thanksgiving is really fun: you get to sort food and put it in bags for people to pick up.” –Andrew Klinger

Steve and José Patrick visit Mary’s Center every time they are in town from their native Australia. This wonderful couple dedicates their free time by helping with administrative work, events, and assisting Briya Charter School. Steve and José are not only dedicated volunteers, but they have become a part of our Mary’s Center family!

“I enjoy volunteering at Mary’s Center as I feel part of a family; a family that emanates joy, passion and empathy. With their holistic and "hands on" approach, Mary’s Center is able to make a definite and visible difference to families in need.” – Steve Patrick
