One Year Anniversary of First Lady’s visit
First Lady Michelle Obama visited Mary’s Center three weeks after her arrival to the White House. It was her first official visit to a non-profit organization. Mary’s Center is proud to remember the one-year anniversary of such marvelous experience. Vestiges of her visit are still alive in the soul of our neighborhood. Staffers, patients, and neighbors still talk about having met the First Lady. Mary’s Center was not only visited by Mrs. Obama, but also invited to visit her house. Board members, employees, and participants had the privilege to visit the White House; not only one, but many times. Also, Mary’s Center President and CEO Maria Gomez has been involved in numerous White House meetings. Maria has met several times with Mrs. Obama and White House policy advisors to discuss issues affecting our community. Mary’s Center is proud to acknowledge our First Lady commitment to improve the lives of the underserved communities. We have cheered her program initiatives, especially the program targeting the fight of childhood obesity in America.
